In November 2016 BHI took part in the national BBC Breakfast campaign #alightoncancer. This week long campaign was geared towards highlighting a myriad of issues associated with living with Cancer, from diagnosis, treatment and beyond.
Working with cancer charities and researchers across the UK the BBC looked at the latest treatments, raising awareness of signs and symptoms and explaining who is most at risk and why.
Following our extensive work with our national programme, BME Cancer Voice, raising awareness of Cancers which pose a particular risk to BME communities, as well as our research in to the disparity of service provision, we were honoured to take part and help to shine #alightoncancer.
In line with our previous work our contribution focused on the perceived cultural barriers to accessing care, the imbalance of service provision and lack of services specifically developed to be deliberately inclusive of all BME communities, including end of life care.
On Wednesday 16th November 2016 we featured on BBC Breakfast’s focus on Breast Cancer alongside support group Sista2Sista.
